IKEA shares meatball recipe so you can have it at home

DIY meatball recipe till the day we can go to IKEA again.

If you’ve been missing the whole IKEA experience, you can now have a slice of it at home, in the form of its famous Swedish meatballs.

IKEA recently released its signature recipe via Twitter, the cooking steps depicted in its usual assembly instruction drawings.

This one has text and seems easy enough to follow.

IKEA secret meatball recipe revealed

The recipe calls for 500g of minced beef and 250g of minced pork. Along with that an onion, clove of garlic, breadcrumbs, an egg, milk, salt and pepper.

Making the meatballs seem easy enough. Mix the mince together with finely chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs and egg. Then add milk, and season with salt and pepper.

Next, shape the mix into bite-sized balls. Once all is done, refrigerate for 2 hours, which helps them retain their shape.

Now you’re ready to fry them. Heat a pan, add oil and lightly brown the balls on all sides.

Remove from heat and pour them into a ovenproof dish and cover. Place in a hot oven (180ºC conventional or 160ºC fan) and cook for a further 30 minutes.

The recipe wouldn’t be complete without its iconic Swedish cream sauce.

Melt 40g of butter in a pan. Whisk in 40g of plain flour and stir for 2 mins. Add 150ml of veg stock and 150ml of beef stock and continue to stir. Add 150ml double cream, 2 tsp of soy sauce and 1 tsp of Dijon mustard. Bring it to a simmer and allow sauce to thicken.

And when meatballs are cooked, serve them up with potatoes — creamy mash or boiled. A dollop of SYLT LINGON lingonberry preserve, if you have a jar handy, would make the whole IKEA dining-at-home experience complete.

Hackers Help: How to remake cam lock holes?

I want to put a 78.5” wide PAX configuration in a 77” space for a kids room . My plan is to eliminate the drawer on the right unit, then cut the shelves and rails to be 1.5” narrower. My question is, how do people attach two laminated pressboard IKEA pieces after they’ve cut off the cam lock holes? Related: See more Hackers Help questions and answers .
