BRIMNES goes glam as a dining room credenza

The three BRIMNES cabinets strung together filled a long dining room wall as a credenza. Furthermore, their 37-3/8″ height filled vertical space in a room with a high ceiling better than a typical 30″ console/sideboard height. While the clean lines and black finish make the BRIMNES modern, I wanted to add a touch of elegance. The smoked glass top adds shine, hides BRIMNES seams and provides an easy-to-clean surface for use as sideboard when entertaining. Related: Regaining storage with end to end alcove shelving I was searching for extra-long pulls in polished nickel to contrast the black cabinets, which were hard to find with 4″ hole centers. I found the 7-1/4″ acrylic cabinet pulls with polished nickel details at Ballard Design, though upon receiving the pulls, learned that the 4″ spacing didn’t quite align with the European dimension for the pre-drilled cabinet pulls on the BRIMNES. Hence, the hack! IKEA items used:   3 BRIMNES Storage Cabinets IKEA BRIMNES Cabinet

Rawrsome dinosaur bed from IKEA KURA bed

Dad makes fabulous dinosaur bed for daughter’s big girl room. With Baby #2 arriving, my wife and I knew it would only be a matter of time before we needed to evict our daughter Anna from her current sleeping area — the cot bed. Because we knew that our life would be focused on Baby for the foreseeable future (and I read somewhere that she might resent the new baby if she saw her bed move as an eviction) we decided to ask Anna if she wanted a “big girl” bed, and what kind of bed she’d like. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting the response: “Dinosaur Bed!! Raaaawwwrrrrrr!”. They used this item to turn into a Covid WorkStation

Due to Covid, I had to work from home more often and had to create a workstation in my room, where I could hide from my toddler for a few hours. I didn’t want to spend too much money. So I used a baby changing table that we were not using as much and bought a keyboard tray from eBay. You’ll need the tray and all its included brackets and screws. Related: Changing table to kid’s art desk Assemble the tray. (If necessary for your model) Using the screws provided, attach the keyboard tray to the underside of the GULLIVER top shelf.  I didn’t use a drill , but I guess it would have looked a bit neater if I had pre-drilled the holes.  And done!
