IKEA joins the fight + 6 DIY face mask you can make now

DIY face mask tutorials including a no-sew and origami version.

Kudos to IKEA for producing face masks and other protective gear for hospitals.

The yellow and blue joins a growing list of companies branching out of their normal business areas to help meet equipment shortages in the fight against coronavirus.

Having started off with masks for staff in China in early stages of the pandemic, the Swedish group is working with several suppliers to ramp up output of masks for health workers, as well as hand sanitizers, visors and single-use aprons.

The first batches for European healthcare facilities are in transit, Henrik Elm, global supply manager at brand owner Inter IKEA Group, which is in charge of supply, told Reuters.

Several other companies are also working to help address an acute shortage of medical supplies, with vacuum cleaner company Dyson making ventilators, fashion group Armani producing medical overalls and spirits brand Ricard donating alcohol for sanitizers.

In the meantime, we’re now learning that any mask is better than no mask.

But supplies are running low in many places. If you can’t get your hands on N95 or surgical face masks, try making some DIY ones.

CDC recommends wearing face masks, even cloth masks, in public areas where other social distancing measures may be difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies). See CDC recommendations on homemade cloth coverings.

Hackers Help: How to remake cam lock holes?

I want to put a 78.5” wide PAX configuration in a 77” space for a kids room . My plan is to eliminate the drawer on the right unit, then cut the shelves and rails to be 1.5” narrower. My question is, how do people attach two laminated pressboard IKEA pieces after they’ve cut off the cam lock holes? Related: See more Hackers Help questions and answers .
