Q: How to reduce KOMPLEMENT Drawer Spacing?

When we renovated  our bedroom last year we built in lots of PAX storage. We built a large wardrobe with grey gloss sliding doors. Photo: IKEA.com We then used the 35cm deep frames to create open storage opposite the end of the bed. IKEA items: White PAX Frame White KOMPLEMENT Drawers This provides open shelving for decorative items and houses our TV. The bottom half however we fitted with white KOMPLEMENT drawers. We like seeing the drawer fronts but we didn’t think about how tidy the drawers would have to stay to stop things being visible between the drawers. We have fitted the drawers as close together as we can given the pre-drilled holes. What I’m asking is, is there any way to get the drawers any closer? Could we put our own holes in, in between the existing pre drilled holes? Thanks in advance! Sarah *** Hi Sarah Yes, you can add your own holes between the pre-drilled holes to lower the drawers above and reduce the gap. Remove the drawer slides and m...

How to remove the arms from your IKEA POÄNG armchair

Remove the arms on POÄNG in 2 steps. I liked to type on my laptop while sitting in my old POÄNG . While it was mostly very comfy, my elbows were constrained by the armrests. They had to go. Use the pencil to mark where you want to drill/cut. I screwed them from underneath with counter-sunk holes: Is It Good? The angle is slightly less reclined than the ori...

Expansion tanks

As I mentioned in last week's blog post, expansion tanks are required when water in a home can't expand back into the water main. This might be caused by a check valve, a backflow preventer, or a pressure regular.

All you need to know about building a Death Star lamp

Converting an IKEA PS 2014 lamp to resemble the iconic Star Wars’ Death Star is hands down one of the most popular hacks on IKEAhackers. Star Wars fans can’t resist exploding the Death Star in their own living room. Many have attempted it with slightly different approaches. Find one that suits your DIY level and own the Death Star. The first thing you’ll need is of course, an IKEA PS 2014 lamp . I would recommend the larger 20″ lamp for scale and copper insides for sheer explosive effect. Buy IKEA PS 2014 lamp, white-copper | IKEA.com Other materials you may need, depending on the style of lamp you pick: Masking tape Plastic paint Spray paint Luminuous paint Acrylic paint Scalpel / Xacto knife Compass for geometry Paint brush A Rugged Star Naja’s version gives the Death Star a rough, rugged look. It’s also one of the easiest tutorial. First, she masked the parts of the lamp she wanted to keep white with sticky tape. This part is most time consuming. The laser...

See this guy’s striking IKEA makeover during lockdown

With nowhere else to go, 34-year old Fiq Said rolled up his sleeves during quarantine (Movement Control Order) and gave his bedroom an extreme IKEA makeover. While nothing is “hacked” as we’re used to around here, the transformation is startling. It proves in true IKEA fashion, you just need to plan and pick your pieces well to set up a pleasant and inviting room. “28 days worth of work during quarantine. The MCO got extended and IKEA is still closed,” he tweeted along with before and after pictures of his bedroom.
