Anthony Bourdain’s NYC Apartment Is for Rent and the Views Are Breathtaking

Just a few months after the devastating news of Anthony Bourdain’s passing, his New York City condo is up for rent. Bourdain didn’t own the property — he leased the two-bedroom, two-bath condo. Here’s a look at how the “Parts Unknown” star lived.

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the stunning views from nearly every room of the 1,283-square-foot apartment.

The galley kitchen features Calacatta marble and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances

It’s not the biggest kitchen, but it’s perfectly laid out, even for a star chef.

Both bedrooms have big walk-in closets and views

The slightly larger master bedroom has his-and-hers walk-in closets. Floor-to-ceiling windows have views that are unobstructed by other high-rises, creating a sense of open space and privacy.

The master bathroom features high-end materials and finishes

The ample master bathroom features double sinks, a glass-enclosed shower and a soaking tub.

The building has great amenities, like a full-time doorman, a concierge and this screening room

There’s a screening room in the building with comfortable leather lounge chairs.

Plus a health club and a spa

The gym overlooks south Central Park.

The outdoor sun deck is an oasis from the busy city below

The building’s sun deck features mature trees and plenty of greenery for a nature-reserve feel.

According to Douglas Elliman’s records, the streamlined, contemporary apartment was originally leased by Bourdain in September 2016 for $13,000 per month and is currently for lease for $14,200 per month. Photography by Douglas Elliman.

A beautiful design idea for the IVAR cabinet with doors

A wall of IVAR cabinets with doors engraved is astonishingly captivating. Because IVAR is real solid wood (unlike a lot of flat-pack cupboards), it makes a great blank canvas for CNC machining work and engraving. It’s not too difficult to shorten some in order to fill a wall exactly. I shortened the top row to 695mm and reduced the depth of the middle column to 40mm to create a 50/40/30 sequence so that I didn’t block the window but maximised storage capacity. Chop up the drawing in Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator into door-sized sections. Save as an SVG. Import the ...
