Bringing jewel tones into a space can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve brought you some tips on how to pull off this look the right way. They are as follows:

  • Be ready to commit: If you want to play with jewel tones, you’re going to be making a big style statement. Embrace it. Go into this design project with a “go big or go home” mentality and resolve that you are truly going to give these colors the space to shine. You can always change your design later on down the road.
  • Pair bold with bold: Jewel-tone colors work best when they have the ability to play off another bold color. Rather than only using one shade in a room, choose two or three to create a strong sense of contrast. Just check the color wheel first to make sure that the colors you choose go together well enough.
  • Use neutrals to soften: That said, if you make the room too bold, it could run the risk of becoming overwhelming to the eye. Once you have your main color scheme in place, add touches of neutrals to provide a space for the eye to rest. (Remember, metallics count as neutrals, too. They don’t have to be boring.)

Amped up KURA bed with drawers and safety rail

We saw other KURA beds with storage drawers underneath on this site. So, we also wanted the same — to make space for LEGO s and wooden trains under the bed. We installed the additional headboard panels because the configuration of the room and the location of the windows in the room meant that we wanted the children’s heads on the right and the ladder on the left. The KURA plans did not seem to allow this configuration, though I have seen online that there are models of this bed from 2003 that allowed more options for setup.
