Upgrade the FLISAT children’s table with a simple mod

The FLISAT children’s table is quite a smart little thing. See those white covers? It’s a secret compartment. Open them up and you’ll fit 2 TROFAST storage boxes snug under the top of the table. Your child can reach in and get his or her LEGO bricks – and then — most importantly, sweep everything down into the bin to clean up. Or at least that’s what we all hope the kiddo does!

Lauren has a very simple yet practical hack to turn the FLISAT children’s table into a play table with more storage and better organisation.

Materials:

  • FLISAT table with TROFAST tubs
  • ONSKLIG change table containers
  • Wood bracket
  • Pine

Simply attach two 8mm pine wood brackets (using screws or nails) to one side of the table. Line these up to the joint in the table. Pre-drill to prevent splitting.

Next, screw one length of 40mm x 19mm pine wood (cut to 445mm) onto the brackets and slide on your containers! Now your table is a play station/storage unit fit for craft materials, LEGO, etc.

Amped up KURA bed with drawers and safety rail

We saw other KURA beds with storage drawers underneath on this site. So, we also wanted the same — to make space for LEGO s and wooden trains under the bed. We installed the additional headboard panels because the configuration of the room and the location of the windows in the room meant that we wanted the children’s heads on the right and the ladder on the left. The KURA plans did not seem to allow this configuration, though I have seen online that there are models of this bed from 2003 that allowed more options for setup. Additional safety features Safety rail panel for the lower KURA bed helps our two year old feel secure, as he just transitioned from a crib directly to this bunk. Likewise metal handles on the ladder. They added a lot of confidence for both the five-year-old and the two-year-old when climbing up to the top bunk.
