I was looking for a back panel for my ALEX storage unit unit. The original one sits inside the unit (see pix below) and didn’t leave enough room for my gaming computer. It also didn’t allow for any ventilation.
I browsed through hardware store websites to see if I could have one cut for me, but couldn’t find anything. Then I discovered that IKEA actually sells a pegboard that fits the unit perfectly.
IKEA items used:
- ALEX storage unit
- SKÅDIS pegboard
Other materials and tools:
- Four screws
- Screwdriver
- Hammer
Instructions:
It’s very simple: attach a SKÅDIS pegboard to the back of an Alex unit. You don’t even need a drill. The materials are soft enough to put screws in using a screwdriver if you hammer them in a bit.
It doesn’t match the height of the unit, but that was just what I needed to make room for the cables.
Also, most of the hot air comes from the power supply, so it’s good to have the area around it clear.
