IKEA FALSTER garden set gets a facelift

As you can see in the before picture, the faded brown was not looking good. I was debating on what to do as the IKEA FALSTER garden set is still in good shape on its own.

I thought of painting it to see how it will look and I love the final look.

Using the IKEA drill, I removed the slats from the chairs (seat area and handles) and the bench.

Save all the screws.

Cleaned and dried the slats and did a mild sanding.

Painted the slats with the navy blue I picked up and using acrylic pens, I drew some designs on the chair handles. I did do two coats of the paint.

Let it dry for 24 hours and screw them back in.

What was the cost?

It cost me around $35. The expensive part was the acrylic pens I ordered on Amazon for $20. The paint was $9 from Lowes. (They have a sale section near their paint department where they sell paints that are returned for $9/gallon) and rest of the money was spent on brushes.

What do you like most about the hack?

I really love that I was able to do a “Indian design” directly on the chairs.

What was the hardest part of the hack?

Not hard but definitely pay attention to make sure you covered each and every nook and corner to paint.

Anything to pay special attention to?

If I had to do this all over again, I would probably get some new set of nails on hand just in case.

Also, I did not remove the slats from the dining table. I painted directly on the table.

A beautiful design idea for the IVAR cabinet with doors
