5 Creative Ways to Get Bold Colors into Your Space

Bold colors make a delightful addition to just about any space. They add an eye-grabbing element that just pulls you in. They also work well in a variety of styles, from the children’s room to artistic or boho spaces for adults. An accent color in a single piece can also work well in modern and minimalist spaces to provide a subtle pop of color.

Take a look below for some creative ways to work bold color into your home. These ideas vary depending on how much effort you’re willing to put in, from retiling a bathroom to placing a few colorful furniture pieces around the room.

Wild jelly chairs

The jelly chairs in the photo above offer a neat idea. Their see-through quality casts bright hues on the space behind them. Going for different shades in each chair gives a fun, artistic look.

Combining brightly colored chairs with other colorful aspects in the room also gives a sense of cohesion in the space. For instance, the chairs pair well with the bold, colorful wall art behind the bar area. The neon orange bar stools fit right into the style. Meanwhile, more subtle accents like the bright yellow flowers on the table complete the look.

Bold Colors Bright Upholstery

Multicolored upholstery

Similarly, you can go for bold hues in your upholstery choices. The photo above shows how well multiple shades of upholstery can work in the same room.

In order to avoid making the room look haphazard, this style has the same shade on a sofa as it does on the dining room chairs. The pink on the sofa is reflected in the wall art across the room. Finally, the blue shade on the chairs in the foreground is reflected in the vases under the wall art. All the colors are well balanced in other areas of the room.

The bold colors also stand out against a backdrop of stark whites and blacks. This adds a neutral balance to the space.

Bold Colors Yellow Entryway

Accent entryway

A nice way to add a little bit of color to your home is to add an accent color to the entryway. This gives you a bold shade that doesn’t dominate the rest of the home, especially if you’re not looking for too much color. It adds a little pop to an area that’s usually hard to style.

Foyers are often left looking drab and uninspired. People think of them as a space that’s simply there to move quickly through to get to the rest of the home. However, it’s also where you greet guests and make your first impressions. A bit of accent coloring, like in the yellow seating area in the photo above, adds easy and instant style to an entryway.

Bold Colors Bathroom Tile

Statement tile for bold colors

Another idea for adding bold colors to a home is to go for a statement tile look, like in the photo above. For maximum effect, consider combining bold shades into a mosaic style. The bright seafoam and bold light blue combine well with the deep blue and dark greens for a design that really grabs the eye. You might also consider a neon orange tiled accent wall or backsplash.

For these styles to pop, however, you may want to pair them with a neutral color scheme in the rest of the space. The bold tile won’t have to compete with anything visually, making the space look organized and updated.

Colorful Paint on Wooden Pieces

Breathe instant color into a space with bright paint on the wooden pieces in a room. For instance, the photo above shows how well the concept works on two headboards and a dresser. To bring the color into the rest of the room, the same bright pink shade is reflected in some of the polka dots on the bedspreads.

You could also get a similar look by painting end tables, wooden rocking chairs or the outside of a bookshelf. It’s an instant way to create an eye-grabbing accent piece. This style works best if the brightly colored pieces stand against an overall neutral color scheme so that the accent pieces don’t compete too much with larger elements in the room.

Hackers Help: How to attach headboard to ESPEVÄR mattress base?

I’m trying to figure out if a headboard can be attached to an Espevar Mattress Base , and how to accomplish that. I’m looking at a standard metal headboard (because I just prefer the look of curved metal to what IKEA offers) and am not interested in a slat base with just a mattress on top, and a wall mounted headboard is not an option due to renting. Thanks for any help! ~ Amy *** Hi Amy I’ve not seen the ESPEVÄR in person but I believe it is possible to attach a headboard to it. From the website, the ESPEVÄR looks like a regular wooden slatted mattress base under a bed base slipover. As to how to attach it, that will depend on the fittings on the metal headboard. So you will just need to get the right hardware to secure the metal headboard to the wooden frame. And make some small openings on the slipcover to let the fixtures to go through.
