Q: MALM + KALLAX bed hack with SNARUM mattress?

I want to make a storage bed like the one below by el_massey:

To the folks from AT inboxing me about how I made the bed: 1 large Malm dresser, 4 small Kallax units, mount units to each other/ the wall. with 1/8” plywood under kallax (or thick felt furniture feet) to make up slight height diff. Add slats on top, then full sized mattress. I ended up adding Velcro to the slats to hold the mattress in place, and a push-button light inside so I can see in the dark. Also, furniture sliders under the crate for easy movement/access to interior shelves, and a fan mounted under the desk on the opposite wall so the pup doesn’t get overheated. We’re really happy with our setup (and all the storage we have in such a small footprint!) #ikea #ikeahack #impactdogcrates #apartmenttherapy

I’ll be using 2 MALM dressers with 3 drawers and 2 KALLAX 2×4.

But instead of adding bed slats on top I would like to just add a IKEA spring mattress that has a built-in base like the SNARUM.

Will there be a problem with weight distribution or will it work? In my mind the bed usually has 4 small wooden legs that holds it up but will the MALM and KALLAX hold?

The IKEA SNARUM mattress base is basically a wooden box with plywood across, overlaid with a layer of mattress. By the looks of it, it should hold up in your construction.

The MALM and KALLAX has a slight height difference — so do make sure to prop the KALLAX up (with thin plywood) until they are level with the MALM. When level, the weight of the bed base will be evenly distributed.

Sliding Bookcase Doors KALLAX hack to divide your rooms

I replaced single-glazed sliding doors that divided the sitting room and dining room with a sliding KALLAX bookcase. For one “door”, I used two 2×2 cubes and one 2×1 unit. As we already owned 4 separate KALLAX 2×2 cubes and they seemed to be exactly the same width as the internal doors, we thought it might be possible to stack them.
