Keep your hair tools and products in hand and organized with these simple hacks.

#1 Hair tools holder

I hacked a simple hair tools holder using the discontinued GRUNDTAL towel rail and zip ties. (The GRUNDTAL towel rail is replaced by the BROGRUND).

Materials:

GRUNDTAL towel rail
Zip ties

GRUNDTAL towel rail (replaced by BROGRUND) | Buy on IKEA.com

The wires from the hairdryer / hair straighteners will slide inside the towel rack will not tangle so easily. Simple yet functional!

Can be done for more tools using the GRUNDTAL wall shelf.

#2 Hair products organizer

Materials:

BEKVÄM Spice rack | Buy on IKEA.com

Pretty simple hack here, just used a BEKVÄM spice rack and screwed a 9″ LANSA handle on the bottom.

The rack holds all my hair products and my hair dryer / flat iron caddy hangs from the handle. Keeps everything handy!

#3 Trofast Beauty Station

I hacked a TROFAST storage unit into a mobile beauty station.

Materials:

I flipped it over, added casters and painted it black. (Back when I made this the only color options were white and natural wood.)

I also added handles, a hair dryer holder (found at any beauty supply store) and a small storage basket on the sides. Everything I used is from IKEA apart from the paint and blow dryer holder.

#4 GRUNDTAL wall mounted beauty bar

I’m a mess in the morning. I have ADHD, which makes digging through drawers, baskets, and piles a nightmare, and I have to compete for one of two bathroom vanities: my husband shaves in the en suite bath while my daughter primps in the other. Our condo is tiny and our bathrooms are tinier… no room to share!

Hackers Help: How to remake cam lock holes?

I want to put a 78.5” wide PAX configuration in a 77” space for a kids room . My plan is to eliminate the drawer on the right unit, then cut the shelves and rails to be 1.5” narrower. My question is, how do people attach two laminated pressboard IKEA pieces after they’ve cut off the cam lock holes? Related: See more Hackers Help questions and answers . A beautiful design idea for the IVAR cabinet with doors

A wall of IVAR cabinets with doors engraved is astonishingly captivating. Because IVAR is real solid wood (unlike a lot of flat-pack cupboards), it makes a great blank canvas for CNC machining work and engraving. It’s not too difficult to shorten some in order to fill a wall exactly. I shortened the top row to 695mm and reduced the depth of the middle column to 40mm to create a 50/40/30 sequence so that I didn’t block the window but maximised storage capacity. Take a drawing, trace it in Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator into a black-only flat design. You can simplify the path at this point to reduce the time needed to engrave.
